About
My Nans a Hotel is a misheard song lyric that defines a series of memes about the ending scene in the music video for U.K. rapper Mansa's song "Hold Back," in which he and three friends are seen approaching an Audi car and, as they're about to open the doors, the video fades to black. Many believed that the men did not own the car, explaining why getting into it was not shown.
The My Nans a Hotel clip went viral on TikTok in early 2025, and later in the year, predominantly in November 2025, TikTokers riffed on the scene by playing with the idea of fading to black before proving something, like studying or working out. The video skits largely reenact the My Nans a Hotel scene, showing the subject(s) walking with their backs turned towards the camera, fading to black before the end.
Origin
On April 24th, 2018, rapper Mansa released the song "Hold Back."[1] At some point after that, Mansa filmed and released a music video for the song, which has since been deleted. The video was reuploaded by YouTuber[2] MT Head on February 4th, 2024, gaining over 60,600 views in a year.
At the video's 2:27 timestamp, Mansa raps, "Man, I'm in the hotel," which sounds like "My nans a hotel." He and his friends are then seen approaching an Audi car, and the video fades to black before the car doors are opened.
