Shrek Bae refers to a viral video of a boy reciting a scene from Shrek on a long car ride. The video, captured by the boy's sister, was shared widely online and gained media attention.
Origin
On July 8th, 2018, Twitter user @Maria_Karras shared a video of her brother, later identified as Theo Karras, recreating the scene from Shrek where the title character and Donkey meet, doing impressions of both characters. The tweet gained over 88,000 retweets and 258,000 likes (shown below).

Spread
After the video began spreading, other Twitter users commented that they thought Theo was a dream boyfriend. User @ahhliikazam called him a "dream boi" (shown below, left). Twitter user @Tea_withTae called it "quality Shrek" (shown below, right).
The spread of the video was covered by Daily Dot[1] and Buzzfeed.[2] Karras, recognizing his viral fame, took the moment in good humor in a series of tweets (shown below).
