About

Soy Right refers to an internet slang term to describe right-leaning, conservative individuals whose expression of their political beliefs perceivably teeters on the soy boy stereotype, meaning a man who lacks masculine characteristics to the point of being cringe. Soy Right was used perjoratively online to identify right-wing optics that were labeled "soy." The term gained traction in 2025 on websites like Twitter / X, where many Soy Right memes and tweets went viral.

Origin

The earliest discovered use of the term "Soy Right" on Twitter / X was shared by X[1] user @ByYourLogic on January 30th, 2021, who tweeted, "Soy right wing nationalist." The tweet received three likes in four years (shown below).

However, it didn't receive viral use on the platform until 2024, when X[5] user @notbenfish quote-tweeted a White Boy Summer meme on May 2nd, 2024, which showed the UNC-Chapel Hill Frat Boys Defending the American Flag as the Raising the Flag on Iwo Jima photo. In the tweet, X user @notbenfish wrote, "Next stage for the soy right: using 2017 left Twitter meme formats," gaining over 2,800 likes in a year (shown below).
