Thanos Taking the Mind Stone from Vision refers to a series of image macros based on a scene from the 2018 Marvel superhero film Avengers: Infinity War.

Origin

On April 27th, 2018, the film Avengers: Infinity War was released in the United States. The following day, YouTuber Mortal gaming posted a video of the scene in which Thanos takes the Mind Stone from Vision's head (played by Josh Brolin and Paul Bettany, respectively). Within 13 months, the post received more than 10,000 views (shown below).

Spread

On August 9th, 2018, Redditor ^[1] photodude565 posted an image of the scene. Within one year, the post received more than 780 points (97% upvoted) and 85 comments (shown below, left). About two weeks later, Redditor^[2] kevvinfeige posted the image and received more than 3,500 points (98% upvoted) and 460 comments.

The following month, on September 1st, Redditor^[3] Solid_Snark posted an object labeling meme about the professional football team the Oakland Raiders. The post received more than 270 points (97% upvoted) in less than one year (shown below, center).

Several months later, on November 27th, Redditor^[4] Andrew_S90 posted the image with the caption "Grape Dies of Complications Following Surgery," referencing the They Did Surgery on a Grape meme. The post received more than 17,000 points (93% upvoted) and 160 comments in about seven months (shown below, right).
