The Perfect Loop refers to videos that aspire to be the most seamless loop on TikTok by creating the illusion of an endless video.

Origin

In December 2018, TikTok users began creating loops in which someone comes in through the door, looks into the lens and says not to trust anyone coming through the door and then the video repeats. The earliest known iteration was posted on
December 20th by @JennyKumagai (shown below). The video gained 1.3 million likes and 20,300 shares in four months.

In January 2019 TikTok users began posting tutorials to YouTube on how to create a seamless loop. On January 21st, its lydiaa posted a video which garnered 11,500 views in three months (shown below, left). The next day, Josh Martin uploaded another tutorial which gained 8,100 views in three months (shown below, right).

On March 27th @the_real_mr_v posted a video in which the same action was repeated by many. He rips a piece of paper at the beginning of the video and pulls out an unripped paper at the end (shown below, left). The video gained over 327,000 views and 14,500 likes in two weeks. On April 1st, TikTok user @kameron.conley26 who is known for his loop videos posted challenging others to attempt a more perfect loop. (shown below, center). The video gained 398,700 likes and 12,000 shares in two weeks. the next day, @ckbrown_18 posted a response video (shown below, right). The video accumulated 922,100 likes and 22,600 shares in two weeks.
