Back in early July 2025, a different X user named @TonyBflakoArt tweeted the first known iteration of the meme, showing streamer LosPollosTV and his dad, Wad, looking sad, with the caption reading, "L Faps…?"

In the replies, X user @marshmellomast3 claimed that they had made the image, along with another one that instead read, "W Faps?" showing the duo thrilled about whatever they're looking at.

@marshmellomast3's claim was corroborated by other X users in the following weeks whenever the images went viral in reposts. The story, for now, is that they created the images in a private Discord server, and they eventually seeped out.

The term "W Faps" combines two internet slang terms, "W," meaning "win," and "faps," meaning self-pleasure material, to mean content that is a joy to touch one's self to.

The term "L Faps" then means the opposite, because "L" means loss.

Both "W" and "L" were originally video game terms, but over time, they were applied to other scenarios to generally mean "positive" and "negative."

Both "W Faps" and "L Faps" were coined this year, when an X user named @ozlako tried to make a point about the characters Charlie Morningstar and Loona from the animated shows Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss.

The user's take was odd, according to the reactions. "I'm the first person in my bloodline to read the phrase 'W faps,'" read one viral reply to the tweet.

Who Is Streamer LosPollosTV And His Dad, Wad?

LosPollosTV, or Los for short, is a 30-year-old Twitch and Kick streamer born and raised in northern New Jersey. He was originally known for his prowess as an NBA 2K player.

In 2020, Los brought his dad, Wad, on stream for the first time. In the following years, the two produced a bunch of viral clips that spread on TikTok and Instagram, among other video platforms.

For instance, in 2024, Los and Wad played a lot of GeoGuessr, and the running joke was that they genuinely thought every location was in Jersey.
