On November 23rd, 2009, the music video for "Delerious (Soulja Boy Tell 'Em Version)" by Vistoso Bosses was posted to the VistosoBossesVEVO channel on YouTube,^[1] gaining over 16.5 million views and 145,000 likes in 16 years. At the video's 17-second mark, Kelci Ferguson of the group is shown wearing Beats headphones as butterflies fly around her.

On October 6th, 2021, Tumblr^[2] user poeticblkgiirl shared a series of GIFs from the "Delirious" music video, including the Girl With Headphones meme. Over four years, the post received over 500 notes.

Sometime in mid-2025, the image surfaced in TikTok comment sections. For instance, on June 18th, TikToker^[4] @dub…b used the image in a video edit that received 29 likes in four months.

On July 22nd, the image was used in the comment section of TikToker^[3] @luhv..yall_'s video, which notably spread the Don't Tap the Glass Fake AI Leak to TikTok.

Other Don't Tap the Glass videos received comments with the Girl With Headphones meme in July 2025, like one video shared by TikToker^[5] @itribi on July 27th, gaining over 129,600 likes in three months. A user (@rabittstew) commented the Girl With Headphones image, gaining over 2,000 likes in three months.

Another user (@braxtonthoreson) commented an edited version of the image on that same day, showing the Girl With Headphones looking displeased with the music. The comment received over 5,300 likes in three months.

In the following months, several Photoshop and AI edits of the Girl With Headphones image were shared in comment sections across TikTok. On August 13th, 2025, TikToker^[6] @abaquita62 shared an edit that incorporated an AI Video and used several of the preexisting image edits. Over two months, the video received over 101,500 likes.

On August 23rd, TikToker^[7] @xx.apple.xx0 shared a video edit that compiled several Girl With Headphones memes, paired with a text overlay caption, reading, "I wonder where this woman is now because her impact on the internet was LETHAL," gaining over 1.7 million likes in two months.

Quenlin Blackwell's Halloween Costume

On October 29th, 2025, influencer Quenlin Blackwell shared a photo slideshow on her Instagram^[8] account, @quenblackwell, showing that she had dressed up as the Girl With Headphones meme for Halloween. The initial slide was a video that recreated the original "Delirious" clip. The post received over 905,900 likes in a day.
