The NOOG THe LaND OF NOOG!

About

Butch Hartman (full name: Elmer Earl Hartman IV) is an American animator who is well known for his many animated series on Nickelodeon.

History

Butch started out as a cartoonist, but later studied at CalArts for animation. He also worked for animation during and after his studies.[1] On December 1997, he sold his original short cartoon The Fairly OddParents! (video below) to Nickelodeon as the last slot of Oh Yeah! Cartoons anthology series.[2]

Due to the short's sucess, Butch was requested to make six 30-minute shorts of Fairly OddParents, and later became a full animated series, starting his long-time career in Nickelodeon.[2] On August 18, 2015, he created his own channel on YouTube channel, with his earliest upload dated on September 1, 2015 (video below).

During his stay in Nickelodeon, he also made other personal projects like a children's app called The Noog Network[3] (below, left) and his Speech Bubble podcast (below, right).

Leave from Nickelodeon

On February 2, 2018, he left his job in Nickelodeon due to creative differences, but confirms that there's no conflict between them. He made an announcement video around a week later, and will continue to make animated series for The Noog Network and as personal projects.

Reputation

Butch was known for creating many popular cartoon series on Nickelodeon, mainly The Fairly OddParents and Danny Phantom. He also makes several videos featuring alternative versions of his characters.

He is also known for his drawings of pop culture icons in the style of The Fairly OddParents, such as YouTubers like PewDiePie and Markiplier, along with modern cartoons like Steven Universe and Gravity Falls

Tracing Allegations

Hartman has several times been accused of tracing fan artworks of various characters and selling his pieces for hundreds of dollars. In July of 2020, he posted artwork of Ranma from the anime of the same name that was accused of being a trace of another artist's work (shown below).

In February of 2021, he was again accused of tracing, this time with a piece of Mikasa Ackerman from Attack On Titan. The discovery was made by Twitter user @jammkamm (shown below). Hartman did not respond to the allegations.

Personal Life

Butch resides in Bell Canyon, California with his wife Julieanne, along with his two daughters Carly and Sophia.[4] He is also a devoted Christian.[5] Besides his work in animation, he and his wife founded the non-profit volunteer organization Hartman House, which aims to help out those affected by poverty, abuse, and abandonment.[6]
