About
The Smallville Method refers to a looksmaxxing diet trend that originated on the TikTok platform in early 2026. The method, which details watching the television show Smallville while "spamming" excessive amounts of coconut water and bananas for their diuretic properties, is utilized to achieve the physical attributes of series star Tom Welling (who plays Clark Kent), a well-respected figure in looksmaxxing spheres. The trend spread throughout early 2026 and eventually garnered mainstream attention outside the looksmaxxing community by March.
Origin
Smallville is an American superhero drama originally airing on the WB (and later the CW) network beginning in 2001. The series follows a young Clark Kent, portrayed by actor Tom Welling, growing up in the town of Smallville, Kansas, long before he becomes Superman.[1] Welling would later become a beloved figure in looksmaxxing communities.[8]
It is unknown when the Smallville Method was first created, nor by whom, though "debloating" is a common topic of discussion among the looksmaxxing community, and is seen as an effective way to shed water weight and accentuate bone structure.
The trend began gaining momentum on the TikTok platform in early 2026, with users posting pictures featuring excessive amounts of coconut water and various fruits (typically bananas due to their high potassium).
On January 18th, 2026, TikTok[2] user @ruwxyfe posted the earliest known example of the trend in a video with the caption, "POV: you spammed the smallville method," showcasing his physical transformation, supposedly due to the method. The post received about 2 million views and 112,900 likes in about two months.
