On March 14th, 2019, Marvel Entertainment released a trailer for the 2019 superhero film Avengers: Endgame. In the trailer, the character Hawkeye (portrayed by Jeremy Renner) appears with a mohawk-style haircut.

Following the release of the trailer, people on Twitter began making jokes about the change in appearance (shown below).

That day, Twitter^[1] published a Moments page on the reaction to the haircut.

That day, The Daily Dot published an article entitled "Hawkeye’s haircut in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ explained." They write:

"His hair could signify a couple of things. One, that in the likely event that he lost his entire family to Thanos’ snap, [Hawkeye] went for a dramatic change or wanted to make himself completely unrecognizable from the superhero we’ve gotten to know for nearly a decade. So when he operates as [his alter-ego] Ronin, he can’t be tied to Hawkeye even without the mask on his face. But within the trailer itself, the length of [Hawkeye's] mohawk appears to change, which could point to another key part of Endgame: that there’s a time jump.
