"Tell ISIS/Tell ISIS We Pullin' Up" refers to a series of image macros in which the subject sarcastically threatens The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. The pictures are generally deep fried and may feature humorous weapons or scenarios.
Origin
The first instance of a "Tell ISIS" variation can be traced back to Twitter. On December 10th, 2015, user @Bill_Nye_Tho[1] posted a photoshop of United States President Barack Obama talking on the phone with a pistol telling ISIS to pull up to the White House. The tweet garnered 523 Retweets 934 Likes, as of August 30, 2017.
Spread
The practice of inserting "Tell Isis" into deep fried memes began on May 18th, 2017, when Reddit user spraycheesememes[2] uploaded a deep fried version onto /r/deepfriedmemes, gaining 350 upvotes (shown below).
The format began spreading on various shitposting and meme-centric subreddits. For example, a post on /r/dankmemes[3] using a still from Spongebob Squarepants posted June 25th gained over 1,500 points (shown below).
