Overview

On June 20th, 2023, the official Roblox^[2] Twitter account announced that because Roblox is a platform for friends to connect and enjoy different kinds of content, the game will start to allow creators who are age verified to be over the age of 17 to create content for other players who are age verified to be over 17 years old, earning over 2.3 million views in two days for the drastic policy shift (shown below).

According to the information provided by Roblox, the updated 17+ category allows for "intense violence, heavy realistic blood, moderate crude humor, romantic themes, unplayable gambling content and/or the presence of alcohol," which is a noticeable step up from the 13+ category (shown below).

The policy change had an immediate effect on the community across social media, with thousands of replies and QRT commenting on the development.
