About
GiIvaSunner, now known as SiIvaGunner, is a YouTube account imitating the original video game music ripper, GilvaSunner, by using a name similar in appearance with a capitalized I in place of the L. Unlike the original, which uploads video game soundracks, this parody account uploads bait and switch videos. The songs often follow soundclown jokes or are remixed.
Background
The original GilvaSunner account,[2] upon which this parody account is based, first became popular for uploading video game soundtracks under the name SilvaGunner,[1] which was terminated for copyright infringement (however, some contend that the account was made by YouTubers BrawlBRSTMs and TimmyTurnersDad as a tribute to SilvaGunner). After the initial termination, GilvaSunner[5] was created on October 10th, 2010 for uploading game OSTs, but again received copyright infringement notices on YouTube. Through a related Twitter account, GilvaSunner notified his viewers that he would not upload anymore songs because he didn't want the channel to be taken down for copyright infringement again.[3]
On January 9th 2016, the fake account GiIvaSunner was created to parody the OST uploader.[6] Visually, the page mirrors the original GilvaSunner page, like the similar profile picture and background image with some alterations. Another difference is on the about page, which states that "Every video is submitted by a small group of content creators with their approval. Also, requests are fine but please don't make the same one more than once." The first upload was a bait and switch video that claimed to be the OST for Wild Pokémon Battle – Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire (below). Since being uploaded in January of 2016, the video has received over 27,000 views
Online Presence
The parody account uploads videos extremely frequently, with close to or more than one video per hour. Every video uses the original cover art, to parody regular YouTube music rippers. However, a large quantity of the videos are soundclown remixes. In a similar fashion to the honobono shrine remixes, a frequent joke on the channel is a song is mixed with The Flintstones theme, a reference to one of the Vinesauce Joel stream where Joel plays Mario bootlegs. The opening title of the game "7 Grand Dad" is an 8-bit remix of the opening theme Meet The Flintstones[4].
The most popular video on the account is a remix of We Are Number One from LazyTown.
First Account Termination
On April 6, GiIvaSunner's account has been terminated by youtube due to the violations of terms and service. GiIva promised that he will get the account back as soon as possible on his twitter[7]. Meanwhile, users on twitter reproved the decision of youtube with the hashtag #HighQualityVideoGameRIP.[8]
The original parody account is not retrieved yet. But on Apr 12, GiIvaSunner anounced that the new account (with the name "SiIvaGunner") has been created[9] to continue hosting parody tracks. Also including an anouncement video, which is a direct reference to the Baneposting. As for the launch, the channel released a Metal Gear themed album which has been created by multiple users.
Reboot and ARG
On June 9, SiIvaGunner uploaded a video titled "Futari Happiness (NOZOMI Mix) – Love Live! School idol festival" where the song would regularly start before being replaced by the crashing of SiIvaGunner's ripping software (shown below, left). The song would eventually continue into a mashup of Quad City DJs' Space Jam after getting new ripping software from the "Nigra Store". On June 17, SiIvaGunner uploaded a video originally titled "Snow halation – Love Live! School idol festival" (shown below, right) showing what would be a rip of the song Snow Halation be replaced by a Blue Screen of Death and a reboot sequence.
This would bring about two new changes to the channel, one being the start of an alternate reality game (ARG)[11], starting with the upload of a brand new album on Bandcamp[10] and ending with a picture (shown below) containing the email address enlightenedrhombus@gmail.com, and new rips that replaced memes and jokes previously seen in rips before the reboot with new ones, such as the theme song for The Flintstones or 7 Grand Dad being replaced by the theme songs for Family Guy and The Simpsons, Loud Nigra being replaced by the Howie Scream, and Snow Halation being replaced by the song "GO MY WAY!!" from multimedia project The Idolmaster.[13] These new rips would be considered somewhat lower quality compared to the pre-reboot rips, whereas for those who participated in the ARG and emailed the address receiving an audio file from the aforementioned email address.
On June 26, a new video, originally titled "S͏͔̜͍n̶͔̲͓̹ò͓w̨̯̻̲̼̩ ҉̲͎̲̣͙h̶a̫͖l҉̱̞͍̯̰█," was uploaded (shown below, left), containing the contents of the audio file along with a more detailed explanation regarding the reboot. In the video, dialogue is exchanged between Youtube troll Chad Warden and an entity known as "The Voice Inside Your Head," also referred to by Chad disparagingly as "The Gay Mexican-Ass In My Ass" The Voice reveals that he caused the crash and subsequent reboot. The Voice also decides to strike a deal with Chad in getting the old memes back, but will take a few days to formulate. On June 30, another video, originally titled "▀7̩̜̀ ͈͎̭͕͈̣͚̰́G̸͚̞͖̭͖̀R͏̛͇̟̼̺█Ḑ̤̜̙̪̳▓D͙̲̝̘̤̦̣̗̥█," was uploaded to the channel (shown below, right) where The Voice reveals to Chad his deal to get the old rips and the old universe back. It proposes to merge the two universes, the old universe containing the Flintstones and Snow Halation rips, and the new universe universe containing the Family Guy, Simpsons, and "GO MY WAY!!" rips, together to create a new universe, but without Snow Halation. The Voice gives Chad until 7/7 (July 7) to give his verdict.
On July 7, a video titled "A Grand New Era Ending – SilvaGunner: Rebooted" (shown below, left) was uploaded, showing Chad agreeing to the deal The Voice made with him and merging the universes together while purging Snow Halation in the process. Many users lamented the loss. Meanwhile, a second ARG was kickstarted eventually culminating to contacting the aforementioned Enlightened Rhombus email address once more.[12] On July 9th, A new video titled "Melody of the Heart True Ending – SilvaGunner: Rebooted" (shown below, right) was uploaded to the channel, showing the aftermath of the new universe and through the power of the "MF like button," Chad destroys The Voice, while sacrificing himself, to bring back Snow Halation to the channel.
The End of SiIvaGunner
On September 30th 2016 a video was posted on the SiIvaGunner channel titled "the nutshack theme but the first nutshack is replaced with me ending the channel" in which the owner of the channel, going by the name of Chaze The Chat, explains his plan to end the channel, and thanks the team members and those who made "rips" for the channel.
On October 19th 2016, the first of seven "final" rips, titled "Wood Man – Mega Man 2" (shown below, left), was uploaded. Over the next several days, the final rips, mostly consisting of mashups with regularly featured memes, and one video detailing the Mr. Rental arc (see Mr. Rental section below), were uploaded. On October 29th 2016, a video titled "Title Theme – 7 GRAND DAD" was uploaded and later removed for being "low quality", as it consisted of memes the fanbase had negatively reacted to months before. On the same day, the last final rip, titled "Title Theme & Ending – 7 GRAND DAD" (shown below, right) was uploaded, promoting the final SiIvaGunner album and ending the channel. The channel icon, banner, and about section changed afterwards to reflect the finished state of the channel.
Brief Revival and Halloween Special
On November 3rd 2016, five days after the "final rip" and three days after Halloween, a video was uploaded titled "Wood Man (Beta Mix) – Mega Man 2" (shown below, left). On November 4th 2016, the video titled "Ending (Silent Hills Trailer) – P.T." (shown below, right) was uploaded, starting the Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special. The video was first of several Halloween-themed rips that featured new in-jokes, such as "Kyun! Vampire Girl" from THE iDOLM@STER series, and a new character called Wood Man.
Wood Man would later take over the channel, changing the channel icon, banner, and about section. On November 15th 2016, a video titled "A Nice Announcement" was uploaded, promoting a new album featuring much of the rips uploaded during the Halloween Special.
Christmas Comeback Crisis
On December 14th 2016, a video titled "Prologue – The SilvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis" (Also known as the CCC) was uploaded on the channel. In the video, a humanoid figure (who is revealed to be The Voice Inside Your Head) breaks in the house of SiIvaGunner and brings the memes and figments of the channel to reality through his computer. He then takes over Grandiose City, the setting of this story arc, and takes most of the memes in captivity. However, a small figment (The protagonist of this story) has managed to escape and is on a mission to take on the Voice.
As of January 13th 2024, there are a total of eleven episodes of the series. The order of the episodes are a reference to Kirby: Planet Robobot's use of acronyms in the game's stages (P.R.O.G.R.A.M). While most of the episodes are the actual lore of the series, some are intended to trick the audience.

Second ARG
A second ARG commenced when an unlisted video titled "Title Theme (Gamma Mix) – Super Mario 64" was added into the channel's playlist for Super Mario 64 rips. The video features the trailer for a ROM-Hack of the game called Super Grand Dad 64. In the description of the video, the download link for the ROM-Hack is provided. If a player has beaten the ROM-Hack, they'll be given a ROT13 code, prompting the said player to participate in the ARG.
This ARG would come in two parts. The first part of the game is complete and was played from December 20th to the 24th. It was to be put on hold for Christmas day after the first part was completed with an image known as the "Christmas Stopper". The second part of the ARG commenced by the time Christmas ended. The whole investigation came to a close by New Year's Eve when the participants have deciphered a code that lead to a video about the Moon Man.
SiivaGunner Season 3
On January 1st 2018, the channel uploaded an announcement video titled "…of 2017." In the video, the head of the SiivaGunner Team, ChazeTheChat, has announced that the channel will now enter a new season for 2018. He also stated that two new Christmas albums will be released on the bandcamp and that the channel will now upload more frequently. Since that announcement, SiivaGunner has awoken from his "sleep" and has taken control of the channel once again. The Channel's Profile picture and banner are also restored into their original versions.
2019 Account Termination
On January 4th, 2019, all of GiIvaSunner's was content was stricken from YouTube for copyright infringement. The following day, the runners of the channel, using the name SiIvaGunner2, posted a video explaining that the account had been terminated (shown below, left). The same day, they held a live Q&A from MAGfest explaining why they had been taken down and their future plans for the channel (shown below, right). At MAGfest, they announced that they would continue with a fourth season of the channel.
Return
On February 28th, 2019, SilverGunner uploaded a video titled "Emote: Dance Moves (Epic Mix) – Fortnite," announcing that the YouTube strikes had been removed (shown below, left). In the coming weeks, SilvaGunner uploaded a remix video of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (shown below, right).
King for a Day Tournament
On July 27th, 2018, the channel announced that it will host a tournament to determine who will host the channel for one day. The Tournament consisted of 16 contestants, who are a trio of aliens, ZUN, Thanos, King Dedede, Geno, Unregistered Hypercam 2, Reggie Fils-Aime, Ajit Pai, Weird Al, Will Smith, Solid Snake, DJ Professor K, Off the Hook, the Wario Brothers, Pitbull, and Etika. The winner in each round will be decided by a voting duel, with the winner, of course, having the most votes. The tournament lasted from July 27th to August 9th, with Unregistered Hypercam 2 declared the winner.
Second Tournament
A second tournament, titled King for Another Day, had been announced on March 3rd, 2019 (shown below, left), with the remaining contestants competing in a new roster. Although it was initially set for Summer 2019, there was some delay in the release date. Eventually, on November 22nd 2019, the channel officially commenced the second tournament with the upload of its official theme song (shown below, right).
The new roster will also include a set of newcomers who were revealed over the course of March to November 2019. Those newcomers include, but are not limited to, Mariya Takeuchi, Nico Nico Douga, Jack Black and Elmo, Johnny Bravo, Dr. Piccolo, Mr. Krabs, MissingNo., Dr. Robotnik, and Donkey Kong. Some of the returning contestants, categorized as the "Veterans," have rearranged into new teamed competitors, such as the Alien Trio splitting their group to join alongside two other veterans, Pitbull, and Will Smith. The Second Tournament will also be using a new voting system that will be much different from the previous Tournament. In this new system, rips of the contestants competing in a certain day of the tournament (example shown below, left), along with a mashup rip featuring them, and their opponents (example shown below, right), will be uploaded in the channel before the voting poll itself will be published. The channel has also imposed stricter voting rules in order to maintain fairness in the polls. The tournament ended on December 24th 2019, with DJ Professor K declared the winner.
Seasonal Festivals
On June 19th 2020, the channel announced that a festival is to take place throughout Summer 2020, titled the SiIvaSummer All-Star Festival (shown below, left). From June 19th to September 8th, events (such DJ Professor K's 24 hour livestream, or a Phineas and Ferb channel event), albums, and fusion collabs were released. The channel concluded the festival with a fusion collab of Love Live! song Natsuiro egao de 1, 2, Jump! (shown below, right).
On December 2nd 2020, the channel announced that another seasonal festival is to take place throughout Winter 2020/2021. This event is titled the SiIvaGunner All-Star Winter Festival.
Minor Takeovers / Events
Throughout the channel’s history, numerous smaller events were orchestrated by the team. Ranging from only a day to a few weeks, the channel would upload a series of rips relating to one or a few specific themes.
Monochrome Pause
On February 15th 2017, the channel had uploaded a video titled "Pause Screen (Mother's Caption) – Kirby Planet Robobot" (shown below, left). At the end of the video, the colour scheme turned into a black-and-white monochrome palette. Most rips uploaded since the video would also apply the same colour scheme (shown below, right). During this event, the channel is taken over by Woodman, who tries to find the button that caused the pause.
The pause ended on April 5th 2017 when the channel uploaded the last pause rip titled "Time Beam! – Kirby Planet Robobot." In the beginning of the video, the colour scheme remains as monochrome. But, the voice of Dio Brando can be heard as he uses his stand, 『 THE WORLD 』 to resume time. The video would soon restore into the original color palette and The Voice will return to control the channel again.
Inspector Gadget Takeover
2017 Takeover
On May 14th 2017, a video titled "[AUDIOLOG: 19:27, HEAD_OFFICE]" was uploaded to the channel. In the audio log, The Voice requests Max Profit Haltmann (the main antagonist of Kirby: Planet Robobot) to report at his office. However, there is no response. The Voice had thought that he is already there to report, only to see Inspector Gadget come in and make a ruckus in the office. The Voice would soon leave his office in order to escape from Gadget's mayhem, implying that Inspector Gadget has assumed control in the SiivaGunner channel.
As Gadget takes over the channel for the next 11 days, every rip uploaded during this period would be a reference to his theme (shown below, left), any game he had featured in or Minecraft, a game he reviewed with Mike Matei (shown below, right).
2018 Takeover
On April 1st 2018, the channel uploaded an announcement video titled "You are filled with announcementation," which is supposed to be announcing a release of the channel's rips from Undertale's original soundtrack. The video shows SiIvaGunner slowly being taken over by Inspector Gadget, before the video transitions to a parody of the Nostalgia Critic. Since then, the channel has been in Inspector Gadget's control again until April 9th.
Haltmann Takeover
On May 25th 2017, an announcement video was uploaded with the title "An announcement from your new leader." In the video, Inspector Gadget is heard playing Minecraft in his iPad. As he continues his game, he begins to malfunction and would soon break down. After Gadget meets his demise, the sound of printing can be heard as the reason for malfunction is encoded on the paper, which is due to a copy right claim. The creator of the broken Gadget (who is revealed to be Haltmann) read the printed claim but disregards it since he knew that The Voice has left control of the channel. Haltmann then announces to the viewers that he will be in charge of the channel and sell it for profit. Rips uploaded since the announcement are now back to their original format.
Alternate Genocide Universe
On June 17th 2017, a video titled "Fly High, No Lies Genocide Ending – SilvaGunner: Rebooted" was uploaded to the channel (shown below, left). The beginning of the video is similar to the true ending of the reboot. However, when the sound of sleigh bells were heard, Chad Warden loads his gun and kills the source of the sound. The Voice felt relief, thinking that it was Snow Halation. But, Chad Warden also kills the Voice and takes control of the channel as his own domain. Most videos during this era were rips of games whose platform is any of the Playstation consoles and would reference the quote "chicken and chips" from the song "Abe's Dead" by Lego Pornstars (shown below, right).
The alternate universe came to a conclusion when a video title "…" was uploaded to the channel. After 10 minutes into the video, it turns out, Woodman was the cause of the creating the genocide timeline of the channel. Near the end of the video, he was asked to bring the channel back to the original timeline. He accepts and does so as the video ends with a white background.
Woodman's Birthday Takeover
On June 21st 2017, a video titled "Main Theme (Origin) – Mighty No. 9" was uploaded in the channel. The video shows how Woodman came to be (simply put, his birthday) and how he took over, including this arc (shown below, left). The channel and its Twitter account's profile pictures would soon be changed into Woodman's face and the description of the channel and the videos it upload until the end of June 21st will have their descriptions changed into his catchphrase, "nice." Most rips during this event would continue on their original format. While some would either mimic the theme of Woodman in Mega Man 2 or/and be in the format of the mm2wood glitch, making the audio unsynchronised, off-beat tempo and have major inaccuracies (shown below, right).
The event came to a close when a video titled "Gallery – Mega Man Legacy Collection" was uploaded to the channel on the same day as the Origin rip. The video showcased the fanart Woodman requested in the channel's twitter account for his birthday celebration.
Halloween Special Sequel
On October 24th 2017, the channel uploaded a trailer titled "FEATURE PRESENTAITON"(shown below, left). The trailer was for a sequel of The Silvagunner Spooktacular Halloween Horror Special, the channel's previous Halloween event. The trailer used crude MS Paint drawings for its scenes and it was edited in a style similar to movie trailers made in the 1970's. Since then, the channel's rips have brought back its Halloween in-jokes, including new in-jokes from Doki Doki Literature Club (show below, right).
The special event came to a close when a video titled "A FEATURE PRESENTATION: ENDING" was uploaded on November 1st, 2017. In the video, Wood Man is apparently showing the movie to Haltmann, who denied its approval. Since then, halloween themed events occur in the channel every October.
Nostalgia Critic Takeover
On April 9th 2018, the channel uploaded a channel trailer titled "SiIvaGunner YouTube Trailer." The trailer featured a parody of the trailer for Channel Awesome, the channel where the Nostalgia Critic is based in. Since then, rips remained with their normal themes, but the theme of each rip would be based on a certain schedule based from the channel's new description, which is a parody of Channel Awesome's own channel description, which also included an upload schedule for each video they bring in to their channel.
King for a Day
In accordance to the tradition of the King for a Day tournaments, the winner of the tournament gets to control the channel for only 1 day. The first winner of the tournament, Unregistered Hypercam 2, hosted the channel on October 9th 2018, uploading rips relating to internet culture in the mid to late 2000s (shown below, left). The second winner of the tournament, DJ Professor K, took control of the channel on June 30th 2020 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Jet Set Radio by livestreaming his titular radio station (encore shown below, right).
Cartoon Network Day / Adult Swim Night
On October 24th, the channel uploaded a series of rips themed with numerous shows from Cartoon Network such as Regular Show, Ed, Edd n Eddy, and Adventure Time (shown below, left). The day after, the channel then changed its profile picture and channel banner to mimic Cartoon Network's sister channel, Adult Swim. It also uploaded rips themed from its shows, such as The Eric Andre Show, Rick and Morty, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force, while also uploading bumpers similar to the TV channel (shown below, right).
Related Memes and Sub-memes
7 Grand Dad
7 Grand Dad refers to a Super Mario-like bootleg of the Nintendo Entertainment System game The Flintstones: The Rescue of Dino and Hoppy. The game gained notoriety after being featured in a Vinesauce Joel stream. The game, its opening title music (a rendition of The Flintstones Opening Theme), and Joel's reactions have since been featured in multiple rips. Grand Dad is the first established meme, appearing on the very first rip of the original GiIvaSunner channel (Wild Pokémon Battle – Pokémon Ruby & Sapphire; see Background section above).
Snow Halation
Snow Halation is a popular song from the Love Live! series. As one of former channel contributor Triple-Q's favorite Love Live! songs, the song quickly became a reoccurring trend. This has resulted in controversy, sparking "dislike-bombs" on most rips featuring the song. The song is typically identified for its melody and the chorus lyrics "Todokete setsunasa ni wa".
Loud Nigra
Loud Nigra refers to an audio clip of OG Mudbone screaming while having an orgasm. The clip is typically inserted in sections of rips, such as near the ending (shown below, left), but is sometimes sampled and used as part of the melody of a rip (shown below, right).
The Nutshack
The Nutshack is an American animated sitcom known for its toilet humor, poor animation, and repetitive theme song. The show's opening theme gained notoriety following the Reboot, in which it became featured among numerous rips.
Green de la Bean / Beaned!
Green de la Bean, also known as "Beaned!", is a bait-and-switch jumpscare commonly used in SiIvaGunner's post-Reboot videos, originating from a Facebook account of the same name. It's usually accompanied by an OG Maco clip from the song "U Guessed It" and a bass boost of Hopsin's "No Words". On September 9, 2016, all bean rips have been permanently deleted, which was followed by a mourning one day later. The reuploaded first two rips containing the meme are presented below.
Mr Rental
Mr. Rental is the mascot of an Australian renting company of the same name. He first appeared on the “Siivadirect” livestream on July 11th 2016, when a video of him driving by a poorly drawn road before crashing on a wall is broadcasted on the stream (shown below, left). He is also known to have a hatred for mashups as seen in another video made on August 14th of the same year (shown below, right).
Smol Nozomi
Smol Nozomi is a super deformed version of the Love Live! character, Nozomi Tojo. She is considered to be the personification of Snow Halation. Her first appearance came from a tumblr post by Triple-Q made on November 2015. In the SiIvaGunner Christmas Comeback Crisis, she is the main protagonist of the story, who will stop The Voice during his second takeover of the channel.
Puzzle Room Controversy
Also known as “Нет,” this controversy started when one of the members of the channel's group uploaded a rip of “Puzzle Room,” a soundtrack from the game Kirby: Planet Robobot. The rip was based from the Game Over screen of a Russian bootleg of Felix The Cat. After a few seconds into the video, two choices in the video are shown, both saying “Yes” and “No” in Russian. If the viewer were to pick yes, he will be directed to the music video of Ruskij Puskij by Carlito. However, if he were to chose “no” or if the video automatically chooses that option, he will be greeted by a harlequin baby.
The rip was taken down by the channel and was soon replaced by a SFW version of the rip wherein choosing no would lead to a photo of kirby with some features of a harlequin baby, but in a less explicit manner.
mm2wood / Wood Man
mm2wood.mid is a poorly made 1996 MIDI interpretation of Wood Man's stage theme from Mega Man 2. It's infamous for off-sync instruments, overly loud percussion, and inaccuracies. It's mostly associated with a video of the song being played in MIDIJam and a poorly made MS Paint drawing of Wood Man. The usage in rips covers editing in the original melody and editing the video to sound like a different track.
