On June 23rd, 2023, Dominic Fike's song "Mama's Boy" released on streaming platforms as the 13th track on his album Sunburn.[1] On the same day, June 23rd, Fike's YouTube[2] channel uploaded the music video for the track, gaining roughly 543,500 views and 23,000 likes in three months (shown below).
On July 17th, 2023, TikToker[3] @dontstareattthesun posted an edit that used footage from the music video and centered on the end of the song where a female voice spells out "mama's boy." @dontstareattthesun's edit used stylized subtitles and gained roughly 73,200 plays and 11,300 likes in two months (shown below, left). On August 24th, 2023, TikToker[4] @astr9wrld posted an edit that mimicked the stylized subtitles but instead used footage of Miles Morales, gaining roughly 1.6 million plays and 252,000 likes in 18 days (shown below, right).

On September 5th, TikToker[7] @hearts4tomura posted an edit with Tomura Shigaraki from My Hero Academia, gaining roughly 1.1 million plays and 242,500 likes in six days (shown below, right).
