About
Nick Adams is an Australian author, influencer and conservative political commentator best known for his outspoken Twitter presence, which he largely uses to espouse conservative talking points related to American politics. In late 2022 during a viral hoax about the restaurant chain Hooters supposedly closing, he professed his affinity for the American chicken wing chain on Twitter, with his comments notably being mocked in memes shortly after.
History
Nick Adams was born in Sydney, Australia in 1985. He spent a tumultuous time in Australian politics in the mid-to-late 2000s, where he was criticized by many for reportedly missing council meetings and arguing with journalists.[2] Adams then immigrated to the United States in 2012 and quickly began developing a presence in conservative American politics. In 2017, then-President Donald Trump twice promoted Adams' books Green Card Warrior and Retaking America on his Twitter account.
Adams has regularly taken the conservative side in political debates and has repeated "Alpha Male" rhetoric, often complaining that the young men of the modern era are too effeminate.[3]
Online Presence
Adams is best known for his presence on Twitter,[4] where he has over 464,000 followers as of December 2022. There, he espouses conservative talking points in what many view as an exaggerated and over-the-top manner, leading some to believe he is not being completely sincere.
One of Adams' most prominent topics is the wing chain Hooters, most well-known for its staff of young women in scant clothing. Adams has on numerous occasions praised Hooters as a haven of American values and masculinity, and has also expressed that America's problems could be solved if more young men visited Hooters. On December 28th, 2022, amidst a hoax that Hooters was closing, Adams tweeted[5] that Hooters was the "cornerstone of the American male experience," receiving over 500 likes in 24 hours (shown below, left). On November 9th, 2022, he notably blamed the Republicans' poor midterm election performance on Gen Z children not dining at Hooters,[6] receiving over 4,800 likes in roughly two months (shown below, right).
His hot takes have been the subject of multiple memes in the subreddit /r/PoliticalCompass, where he is usually depicted as being laughed at by everyone across the political spectrum (examples shown below).
Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Criticism
On February 13th, 2022, Adams went viral for his complaint about the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, which notably featured a cast of famous rappers. Adams wrote, "Ted Nugent, Kid Rock, and Lee Greenwood would put on a better Halftime Show than these hoodlums," which was widely mocked for being perceived as racist and for championing three conservative artists many argue are not very good.
Lightyear Film Criticism
On June 21st, 2022, Adams went viral again on Twitter after complaining about a brief lesbian kiss in the 2022 Pixar film Lightyear, writing, "Lightyear is one of the most disgusting and woke movies to ever be created. They castrated Buzz Lightyear in the name of Marxism."[1] The tweet was widely mocked on social media.
