Running Drawing is a single topic blog featuring screenshots of illustrations made with the Nike+ mobile app by running down pre-planned routes.
Origin
On June 14th, 2014, San Francisco-based copywriter Claire Wyckoff[2] launched the Tumblr blog "Running Drawing,"[1] with her first post featuring a screenshot of a running trail resembling an amateur illustration of a dog (shown below).
Spread
On June 15th, Wyckoff posted a screenshot featuring her Nike+ running trail route at golden gate park, which resembled a drawing of a phallus (shown below).[3] The same day, she highlighted the screenshot on her Instagram[4] feed, where it gained over 230 likes in the first two months.
Over the next two months, Wyckoff submitted eight additional Nike+ running route drawings, several of which featured illustrations of penises. On August 5th, both UpRoxx[13] and Jezebel[5] published articles about Wycoff's penis drawings, followed by other news sites in the comings days, including The Guardian,[6] Metro,[7] Fast Company,[8] The Frisky,[9] Geekologie,[10] Bustle[11] and Complex.[12]
