Invincible is an American superhero comic book series created by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, published by Skybound Entertainment, following the coming-of-age story revolved around the superhero Invincible, the son of Omni-Man and the most powerful person on the planet. In March 2021, an animated series adaptation of the series premiered on Amazon Prime, with the series spawning the Think, Mark meme in early May 2021.
History
Comic Series
Superhero character Mark Grayson / Invincible first appeared in a preview in Savage Dragon #102, published on August 1st, 2002, and then in Tech Jacket #1, published on October 30th, 2002.[1][2][3] In 2003, the character graduated to his own self-titled comic book series Invincible, written by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley (first and second issue cover shown below, left and right).
The series follows the coming-of-age story of Mark Grayson, son of Omni-Man, an alien from the planet Viltrum and the most powerful person on Earth, who acquires superhero abilities at the age of 17. As Invincible, Grayson begins working as a superhero under the mentorship of his father and partners with a team of superheroes to oppose enemies of the Earth.
The series is known for graphic violence despite its colorful and sometimes humorous nature. Invincible ran for 144 issues, with the last issue released in February 2018.
Animated Series
On March 25th, 2021, an animated cartoon adaptation of the series premiered on Amazon Prime's streaming service, starring Steven Yeun as Invincible, Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson and J. K. Simmons as Omni-Man (trailer shown below).[4] The first season of the series ran for eight episodes, concluding on April 30th, 2021.
Reception
The animated series was met with positive reviews from both critics and audiences. On IMDb,[5] the series has an 8.9 average user score with over 24,800 reviews. On Rotten Tomatoes,[6] season one of the series has 96 percent positive reviews with a "Certified Fresh" rating of 54 reviews and a 91 percent audience score with over 570 ratings. On Metacritic,[7] the series maintains a 73 average critic score and 8.3 average user score.

The line is in reference to a pair of fighter jets, used to illustrate how weak humans are in comparison to superhumans. The scene was first used as an image macro in early May 2021, becoming popularized over the course of the month. Notably, the same episode also inspired the Think, Mark meme.
